Oh my god how have I gotten this far in life without this place I want my blood replaced with their food.

It’s not bad for a quick bite. Pretty good actually. But there’s a locally-owned New York-style bagel bakery near my house that is absolutely fantastic if you want a top-notch bagel. It has turned me into something of a snob when it comes to bagels from Burgers/Panera/Einstein.

As a kid raised in Jersey, when I moved to the Midwest, I quickly learned that my main bagel option was Brueggers, although occasionally there are local alternatives. I haven’t had a bagel in years.

Maybe not the world’s most authentic bagel, but that southwestern turkey with jalaopnikapeno cream cheese is the bomb-bada-bomb.

New York style bagels are the best. I had on in NYC and it was like a revelation.

I just found out there’s one of these 20 minutes from me.
Might have to go to breakfast on Saturday.

I’ve no idea why, but bagels don’t seem to be a thing here. Like at all. Can’t buy ‘em. That annoys me. :(

Brueggers was pretty good. It was one of the only competitors we had that made/baked from scratch and used water to bake them.
Most everybody else uses steam ovens and/or frozen product.
Obligitory image of a younger McMike defending the Northern Virginia area from other Bagel chains.

That sounds amazing.... except for the horseradish. Who eats that crap?
